Difference between education discounted ThinkPad and normal?

#1 Post by Jericho 2550 » Thu Dec 29, 2011 12:24 pm

Hello,

This may be a dumb question.

I just ordered my ThinkPad with an education discount. I'm just wondering, is there something different about an education discounted ThinkPad from a normally priced one?

Thank you,

What is the model and type that you got? Everything about the build quality will be the same, but some of the optional features may be different.

Sometimes, the "dumbest" question is the one which didn't get asked... : )

There should be no quality difference between them as far as I can tell, I mean, the workers at the factory probably had no idea whether he/she is building one that's with education discounts or not. And the parts used are, AFAIK, not separated either.

And hey, I believe it'a a valid question, as some vendors use different parts and standards for educationally-discounted models, but it's not likely the case for ThinkPads.

However, I don't work at Lenovo and I'm speaking based on my personal observation and experience only.

That being said, models with education discounts are sometimes configured differently from the ones available in the mass market. That's something that should have been advertised clearly though.

Happy New Year.
