Screen brightness slider bar keeps popping up

The screen brightness slider bar keeps popping up, then disappears again after a few seconds. It happens every time I turn the system on, and is worse when I switch from my home to the office using "sleep" instead of turning off completely. While the bar is visible, I noticed the plug icon in the system tray would appear/disappear too. Worst part is that I cannot use my usb mouse while the slider is visible; although I can use the touchpad to navigate. It used to be accompanied by a beep, although I have been able to turn that off by fiddling around with the power management settings. It stops on it's own after a while. One day, I counted over 200 times, but today it was much lower. Can you please tell me what to adjust? Thanks so much in advance! Other than this annoyance, I love my T420s. - Paula

Not sure exactly why this worked, but it did. I had the usb cords running into the power hub that I rdered with my system; thought it would be easier to just plug the one cord into it, instead of multiple. When I took them off the pwer hub, and plugged them in directly - presto! Problem appears to be gone!
