I would get the FHD or HD+ display if you have to replace it anyway. Both displays are much better than the regular one.

I would not buy panels from those types of places. In many cases they don't use the same parts that the actual manufacturer uses. Those places usually sell generic plug and play panels and the quality may not be as good as the original.
I have an extra T520 screen. It is the 1600x900 model by Samsung, and I took it out of my new T520 to upgrade to a Full HD model. As a fellow T520 owner, I can sell you this for very good price. Just PM me if you are interested.

Where did you get your new FHD one from ? Can you list your price for the 1600x900 here ?
Thank you.

You may try Amazon or ebay, and ask the seller to make sure it's genuine Thinkpad part with correct FRU.
The 3rd party website and many sellers on Amazon or ebay sell so-called OEM or COMPATIBLE panel, which may not be an ideal option.

You can always scale up the DPI in Windows or in your browser and document editing tools

I'll give you $100 for every "generic" screen you find at our ware...
Can you at least name one "generic" brand of LCD screens?
Sheesh....
OP, here's the best screen you can get for your laptop:

(Will require a dual channel LVDS cable)
PM me for any questions,

Can we use LED instead of LCD in think pad?

Let's get this straight:
All laptop screens are LCD (except for OLED/AMOLED , but those are not yet in laptops)
What you are referring to is the back-light.
LCD-LED and LCD-CCFL
"ThinkPads" use both kinds depending on the year of the manufacture and configuration.
Some models were even released with both types.
Typically you cannot use an LCD-LED in place of the LCD-CCFL,
because of the difference in video connector, and more importantly the back-light power.
Although there are some successful conversions done on laptops,
we have not seen any done on a ThinkPad.
Realistically there is not a lot of difference between LED and CCFL,
primary pro's of LED: Power efficiency, Longer life, better brightness
primary pro's of CCFL: Softer light and no high frequency blinking.
It is always best to replace your broken screen with an exact same back-light type and resolution.
(Although it is possible to upgrade the resolution in computers which shipped with high-res options)

I purchased a screen from
http://www.laptopscreen.com/English/mod ... PAD~~T520/ few weeks ago,
not really satisfied with the quality of the LCD,
first of all they did not send me the model I ordered, I was expecting to receive a Samsung from LTN156ATxx series, but it was some other model, I do not even remember what it has written on it, I could successfully install it to my T520 though,
second the quality of the colors is not as the original one I had (samsung of course), it is slightly brighter, and I can't make it display any better.
