How to control HD spin down in T510 ultrabay?

I have a 2nd hard drive in my T510 ultrabay. I bought one of those adapters from Ebay to mount it. The problem is, it spins down way too quickly, about 20 seconds, causing a delay next time I access it. It's as if it still thinks there is an optical drive in there. The hard disk spin down in Power Options/Advanced is set to 15 minutes, so it obviously isn't using this setting. Any ideas how to keep the drive running longer?
