Help with Redundant Array of Independent (Inexpensive) Disks

#1 Post by Bub McZombieFace » Mon Feb 20, 2012 12:50 pm

So, can I set up a RAID on My T500 in Windows 7 x64? I have heard that my Bios does not support it, but I can use some sort of software to do this. My HDD speed drops my System Rating a lot. I don't have the option to get a SSD at the moment. I already have a expansion bay. I'll be using 2 160 GB 7200 RPM HDD's. I'd like to use an install that I backed up if I can.

So what is the question? Just can it be done? Have you tried searching on google or bing? Any computer in the world that runs Windows 7 can do software raid, it is built into Windows 7. There are tutorials all over the web.

I was reading all morning and went from doing it today to not sure if I can.
As I was saying earlier, I want to do a system restore. I will not have a DVD burner anymore. Can I boot the CD I made after a back up, remove the DVD burner, replace with my HD bay, and then restore from my external. I just don't want to start from scratch. I did all those steps earlier and it worked, but I didn't see any RAID option any place.

Edit: I used Disk Management to make a RAID0 and it seems pretty point less of a function. When, I restored it just screwed up the RAID. Which gave me one drive restored and one erred. I can't clean install to either drives now.
