T400 (Intel onboard graphics card) Dual Monitor Problem

#1 Post by samac » Fri Mar 09, 2012 7:25 am

Hi All,

I have a T400 with the intel onboard graphics chipset. Nothing speacial...4gb ddr3 ram etc

I've recently bought two of these Acer S243HL 24inch monitors:

http://reviews.cnet.com/lcd-monitors/ac ... 26419.html

They have two HDMI and one VGA slots at the back.

Now, i would like to run two external monitors and either nothing on the laptop screen or the laptop screen aswell....don't really mind. How could i do this. I've bought a mini dock for the T400/T61/T60...will that help?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Sam

The minidock has a DVI output and a VGA output. You can get a DVI to HDMI adapter and run one external display off that, and use the VGA connection for the other external display.

Baiscally, with aT400 you can run a maximum of two displays simultaneously...... so you can run the T400 display and on or other of the external displays..... or run both external displays, with the T400 display off.

Cheers,

Bill B.
