T420s SSD options

Hi,

I'm seriously thinking of purchasing the Lenovo T420s and was wondering what are my SSD options, since I already own an OCZ Agility 3, 240gb hard drive which I want to continue using on the new laptop. As I understand the options for the primary drive are only 7mm drives and hence my drive will not fit there.
I also saw that it is an option to use an adapter instead of the DVD drive and put the SSD in there. Will my 9.3mm drive fit there? (I do not really need the DVD drive).
Is it an option to use this ultrabay drive as the primary drive and the one I will get inside the laptop as a second drive?

Yeah, you can pick up an adapter for the drive (certainly quite a large chunk of change for that thing at any rate).

You might be able to fit the drive by not using the caddy but it will be a tight fit; if it still won't go you may have luck removing the top cover and insulating the thing somewhat. But I wouldn't count on that.

There are other SSDs you can get that will fit in the primary bay, and the mSATA slot is also a viable option if you still want to be able to swap the HDD bay out for the DVD drive when you need it.

Thanks for the reply. Do you know what are the drive options for the mSATA drives? Can any drive be used or does it also has to be 7mm thick?

mSATA SSDs are differnet than a standard drive. They're about the size of a WiFi card and plug into the miniPCI slot on the motherboard. Once the mSATA drive is installed it's seen as another drive. If you click the Air vs X220 link in my signature, you can see a picture of my mSATA installed in my X220. Kingston, Intel, Samsung OCZ, etc. all make mSATA drives. Intel and Samsung among SSD makers have the lowest failure rates, but are more expensive. If I were going to get one, I'd probably get this. I have the Intel drive, but only because they were the only option when I purchased mine.
