Hi all,

I am new to the forum and happy to be here!

I worked for IBM for about 6 years (IBM Global Services) and got hooked on thinkpads. My main machine is a T500 and I am thinking of upgrading to a T520 - New Gen i3. Does anyone know if I can buy the motherboard for a T520 and swap it with my current machine?

Worthy pursuit but unfortunately the T500 and T520 are different animals.

Selling the T500 and buying a T510 may give you the oppotunity to upgrade the motherboard to the T520 or W520 motherboards.

I appreciate your quick reply. Something in the back of my mind told me this was a no-go. I wanted to post the question to the many members on this board who have far more experience with Thinkpads than I do!

T500 is 16:10
T510 an T520 are 16:9

Not only the display, but also the bottom part where the mainboard is differs in size because of this.
