Waiting for T530 & Win8?

#1 Post by Pascal1 » Mon Mar 26, 2012 4:40 pm

Hi guys!

I'm strongly considering buying a T520 as my only computer just died last week. I can, however, use computers at my uni ... so could wait for a few months. My questions are
a) how considerable are the changes between 520 and 530 likely to be? (or might there even be disadvantages in the 530 ... I heard something about it being an ultrabook which would mean that the battery life may become lower right? I really like the option of adding an external battery slice as I will be working in developing countries next year);
b) is it worth waiting for the release of Windows 8 (I quite like Windows 7 actually)? How is Windows 8 going to be better than Win7? (sorry, I'm really not much of a techy)
c) will the 520 be considerably cheaper as soon as the 530 is released? Right now, the 520 is on sale with 90$ off the normal price, that's why I was considering buying it this week.

Thanks a lot for any help!
Pascal

There are lots of Widows forums that will give you opinions on that.... it will be different. There's a Consumer Preview out, which some users love and some users hate - business as usual in operating systems land!

Based on past experience, there will be clearence sales as the T520 runs outs, but the risk with runs outs is always how long the stock last - sometime they are over very quickly - and there probably wont be any CTO configurations on sale, it will be just specific configured models.

Cheers,
