What kind of 1394 chipset is used in T520 ? Texas Instrument or ? Since my main use would be a music recording connected to a firewire device, http://www.weiss.ch/afi1/afi1.htm this is something that concerns me. Usually the Texas Instruments firewire chips are reported as reliable for the purpose. Other often cause problems. If not T.I. would you possibly know some express card firewire adapters using T.I. chips and compatible with T520 ? Thank you.

Every single Thinkpad I've ever tested that had a built-in Firewire port, I could not get a firewire drive to talk to it properly/reliably.

That includes T61, T400, T500, T520.

Almost all of the Thinkpad models above use a Ricoh chip that includes IEEE-1394/Firewire functions, though there were some models (ie some older R series) that used a TI chip.
