Hi,

I have Thinkpad T400 with XP professional SP3.
The system hangs once in a while with green screen and the only way to get out of it is by rebooting my system.

If this is a know bug/issue. Please provide me the solution link. Else please provide possible solutions.

hello..

errr, a green screen..??
don't you mean a blue screen.. also known as a blue screen of death..?

have you looked at the "minidump" file..? to see if there is a particular driver or application listed at the bottom thereof..?
which would point you toward the guilty app or driver or programming code..?

when you reboot, follow this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315263

welcome to the forum..

Thanks :)

To clarify it is GREEN screen(with stripe of its shades). I will surely post a pic(or its link) as and when I get it next time.
I have installed few debug tools as per your link. I will try to post the log file contents as well next time if possible.

Here is how my screen looks. Nothing seems to work. Only re-boot brings the system to normal condition.

Are you sure that the laptop hangs? Try closing and opening the lid (going to standby). My T60 sometimes does the same thing (although colors vary) when it's running on battery power. I know that in T60 forum, there's a topic about it, but couldn't find it right now.
