Intel HD driver install fails

Hi Folks,

I've been tearing my hair out today. I'm trying to install the video drivers for my T410, which has the NVIDIA NVS 3100M. The Intel HD driver keeps having a problem, saying the following in device manager after installation:
Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)
When I don't install as administrator, I get a windows warning saying that the driver hasn't been signed, and would I like to continue. When I install as admin, I don't seem to get that warning. My normal user is an admin.

I've tried installing as administrator, tried uninstalling both NVIDIA and Intel drivers prior to installing, tried restarting 8 bazillion times, etc.

I'm thinking of trying to install the previous version of the optimus driver, but I can't find it online anywhere.

Any ideas?

thanks!

what a mess. here's what i did, and where i am.

i booted into integrated graphics (via BIOS), did an update driver on the display device, pointed to the Intel subfolder in the Optimus installation package, and the driver installed correctly. Then, booted back into Optimus (via BIOS), installed the Lenovo Optimus driver, and everything seems fine. Except for one thing: I don't have access to the Intel HD configuration utility.

Ugh. Any ideas about how to get that thing installed now?

I've been on the phone with Lenovo support twice. They've been pretty much useless, though one of the techs inspired me to boot into Integrated mode (though he had me boot into discrete mode - so he only gets minor credit).

thanks for any assistance!
