Gobi4000 compatible with T420s?

#1 Post by pianoprodigy » Mon Jun 25, 2012 1:42 pm

I want LTE with AT&T. I have the Gobi3000 card currently (Sierra MC8355) that does not appear to support LTE. Can I simply swap them?

Probably not. Lenovo uses what is called a BIOS whitelist to block out unauthorized mini-pcie cards. If the model ThinkPad that you have was never offered an option with the particular Gobi card that you want, then it will not work.

There is a workaround, however, but I do not think talk about the work around is allowed on this particular message forum.
