Reviews/Opinions on T400s WXGA+ 1440x900 LED Display

#1 Post by myxomop » Wed Jul 04, 2012 5:13 pm

ThinkWiki lists the following specs:

14.1"
1440x900
42T0633
120,4 DPI
LED
TMD-Toshiba
LT141DE18B00

A review said 300 NITs, but I can't corroborate that with any supporting info.

Can anyone confirm/deny the NIT level and/or give their overall opinion of this display?

Not sure how many Nit-s are there, but I would say that on max brightness it will be exhausting for eyes when using indoors in normal lighting conditions. For outdoor use, especially on sunny day, comfortable. Everything is easily visible, no need for extra efforts to see whats on the screen.
I definitely suggest LED version of this display- vibrant colours, good contrast and even compared todays laptop screen resolutions, wxga+ is not the poorest one.

It is definitely the worst Lenovo display ever with "funny" contrast ratio 98:1 only http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Len ... 081.0.html

Only because of the "funny" contrast ratio? On datasheet it might look worse than everyday use in real life.

It is not datasheet, it is real measured value :(

Ahh, sorry, my bad  It's S-model.
Turns out there are two types of LED screens: high-nit and... erm... regular. First have 600+ nits and second 300. First was option only for T400. Without "S". I didn't know that and since I own one of these high-nit machines, I wrote my post relying on experience.
They tend to say "regular" LED screen is crappy indeed, while high-nit is okay.

It looks worse on paper than in real life. It's better than my X300's display was, that's for sure!
