Getting Mobile Hotspot working

#1 Post by albo » Wed Aug 15, 2012 9:32 am

Hi Folks,

I've been playing with Mobile Hotspot in Access Connections, and while it works sometimes, other times it refuses to start up. Anyone else have problems with it?

I imagine that it's just interfacing with windows' native ability to create peer-to-peer wifi networks which then share a network connection, but I'm not sure. Anyone have any insight here? I've tried messing around with network adapters, enabling sharing on some of them, etc, but I really gummed up the works and had to reinstall my network stuff. I also tried installing Intel's My WiFi stuff, but that gummed things up too. I suspect the problem has to do with which connection Mobile Hotspot chooses to "share", whether it's my cisco VPN (that doesn't work with sharing), or the ethernet, or something else. But really, I'm not sure.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks...
