Any known problem with Crucial M4 7mm SSD (512GB) on T420s?
Any known problem with Crucial M4 7mm SSD (512GB) on T420s?
I have a T420s and I now want to change the original 512GB HDD to a 512GB SSD, and Crucial M4 seems to be among the highest-rated 7mm models available at a decent price.
However I want to check if there are any known problems - for instance I have seen some (rather confuse) reports on newegg that M4 might have problems when going to sleep?

welcome to tpf.
i'm also considering a 7mm m4 512gb ssd. which model # are you looking at? i read the crucial forum regularly as part of my product research. you may wish to visit there. if nothing else, you'll see what folks *don't* like.

Very good idea with the crucial forum!
I am currently looking at all the M4 models in 512GB listed on newegg and most likely I will get this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820148535
which seems to be a rather recent addition (0 reviews) and it has a well-regarded SATA-to-USB adapter (+ software, but I am quite familiar with GParted anyway).
Most reviews on that site seem to be on 3-4 other/older M4 models of the (same ?) 512GB, including one that seems to be a little alarmist on a T410.

I am using one in my T530 and it works perfectly.

I just installed it today...no problems that I know of
You have to make sure you upgrade the firmware to the latest version since the original firmware was known to crash some ssd's

Using 128 GB M4 7mm for a year in T500. From first day it wasn't a reliable drive and I enjoyed a lot of random freezes, but with latest firmware 040H and Intel RST 11.7 it seems finally stable...
Anyway I will maybe consider Intel drives as well, I think Lenovo puts them in new ThinkPads...
