Dear All,

I noticed this T410s (D37) T2924D37 model being sold as certified used machine. Does it have any known problem? It is a bit overpriced though. I want to buy a T410s, or better yet a T420s NEW, unopened if I can find one.

I also want to buy a NEW X201 or X220 if I can get delivery quickly as I shall visit San Diego, USA for a conference.

Regards

Shoaib

The T410s model does have a cracking palmrest problem. The left corner of the palmrest tends to crack. I didn't initially believe it, but sure enough mine cracked as well, but it is minor and it doesn't bother me. The 1.8 inch HD gives you limited HD upgrade options (I would say a SSD is a must-have in 1.8" factor). The fan tends to run all the time and is really loud, although this can be solved with TPFancontrol. It's a nice laptop, but does have a few annoyances.

I love my T410s. I have been lucky enough to not have suffered the crack yet. Only complaint on it is battery life. Compared to my T410 with the 9 cell battery (4 and half hours with Nvidia NVS 3100 graphics, 6 hours on Intel), the T410s can barely squeeze out 2 hours on just intel graphics.

If this does bother you (or anyone reading the thread) please note that 1) Lenovo will replace the part under warranty with one that is not subject to the same defect 2) if you're out of warranty: the fixed FRU is available on eBay for about 40 bucks.
