lenovo outlet T420

Why does lenovo outlet have a highly disproportionate number of T420?

Most likely because a major corporation decided to cancel the order of 5,000 units in the last nanosecond...

Why does it matter though? If you're looking for a T420 and find what you perceive to be a good deal on one, go for it, usual warranty-related Outlet caveats apply, but apart from that you should be fine. I have yet to be disappointed in a purchase from over there...

Obviously, YMMV.

Without being tarred-and-feathered, my concern is they are lemons since there seems to be some hardware problems with T60 after troubleshooting and researching mine.

Good luck finding a notebook of any kind with no hardware problems reported.

The youngest T60 is about to turn five by the end of this year. I see no connection between what is deemed to be a classic ThinkPad model and the *20 generation whatsoever. "ThinkPad" sticker is about the only thing they have in common...

I've bought numerous lemons in various grocery stores worldwide, but never from the Outlet. YMMV.

And apart from a different aspect ratio, some cleaner lines, and a (slightly) different keyboard layout, I see no difference between them.

But I do agree with you re: the outlet. I've had only good experiences in terms of the products received. (The caveat regarding the warranty or lack thereof still applies though.)

I echo the feedback regarding the outlet - we've purchased a number of laptops (and other equipment) there for ourselves and friends and family and never had an issue. Everything we've purchased has arrived looking brand new.

The supply on the outlet ebbs and flows. Right now there is a good supply, however, there are times where there is practically nothing there. I'm not sure you can read much into that regarding the quality or defect rate of one line over another, etc.
