T500 with P8400 2.26Ghz - fastest CPU upgrade?

Hi all,
I'm quite confused looking at what is possible to upgrade my T500 (2243-4EG) CPU, as I don't really get why 'P' and 'T' processors would be compatible. As far as I can tell it's a 1066Mhz FSB speed, so is the fastest I may be able to go to is a T9600 processor running at 2.8Ghz.
This would be over 500Mhz difference for me between the 2.26Ghz (P8400) and the 2.8Ghz (T9600).
There is a T9600 on a popular auction site, but it stipulates it will only work with a 45 series chipset. CPU-Z tells me that I have a GM45/GM47 (rev. 7) on the mainboard section. Is this the a 45 series?
Does anyone have any experience of this? Will it work?

My T500 has a T9900 CPU at 3.06GHz. It is a 2055-B54 but not sure if that matters.

That's really interesting. Did you buy it like that or upgrade?
Would also like to know your chip set from CPU-Z, if you please?

That's great, but it's not clear if you have a 45 chipset to me.
Would you mind installing CPU-Z (very small and well respected) to see if you have GM45 like I do in the Mainboard section?

Well it's a production laptop so I don't install any software on it other than needed for work. However, google agrees, it is a Mobile Intel GM45 Express chipset.

This link suggests the highest CPU from the factory was a T9600.

...yet you have a T9900. In your opinion, looking at the spec above, do you think I could go as far as a T9900?

This page is clearly incorrect/incomplete. Mine came originally with SSD 128GB and WIMAX which are not listed as options. I bought this used from Tuus and you can check with him as well, he knows a lot more about upgrading CPU's than I do. However, this T500 came originally with the 3.06GHz CPU. It could be that the page you reference was from early T500's, and later int he lifetime of the T500, it was configured differently; mine is a late T500 and about as fully loaded as can be.
