T400 memory upgrade

#1 Post by eualidysal » Mon Oct 22, 2012 2:44 am

Hello

I want to upgrade my T400's memory from 2GB DDR2 667MHz to 8GB DDR3, it shows T400 can work with 2*4GB DDR3 1333MHz PC3-10600 memory, however, I dont know whether it can support DDR3 1600MHz PC3-12800. Prefer faster one but dont know whether it can adapt with my T400(with CPU intel Core2 Duo P8400)..... Ask for help!

I think you're confusing the numbers, T400 can use up to 8Gb of PC3-8500 1066MHz DDR3. Specs are always an "up to", so you wont have any benefit of a buying faster RAMs. They will work though, the MB will simply clock them down to the appropriate speed.

I doubt there would be any noticeable difference anyhow, minor upgrades of RAM speed does very, very little to overall performance.
