SSD Recomendations for a T410?

#1 Post by oliversl » Thu Oct 25, 2012 10:58 am

Hi,
I'm planing to upgrade a T410 with a SSD. The T410 has Windows 7 Pro, so I think trim
should work fine.

I wonder is there is any problem detecting the SSD at SATA2 speeds(3mbps) and if there is a big change in read/s and write/s speeds.

I'm thinking in macsales.com SSDs (sand force chipset) or OCZ SSD.

Many thanks
Oliver

I would buy on price as all SSDs are very fast. You won't be able to tell a difference in real world performance from one drive to the next. If you're data is mission critical and you need reliability, I believe Intel and Samsung have the lowest failure rates, though failure rates for all drives are pretty low. As always, you should have a good backup.

Recommend fresh install of Win 7 then run WEI. After that you're all set to go.

Many thanks Zaz and Cigar guy.

This time I will buy an OWC Electra 3G, that have the sand force chipset. Before I put it in the Thinkpad T410 will test it in a MacBook too.

I hope I can report back in a few days/weeks.
