R61i Adapter (60W 20V) for T400 (90W 20V)

#1 Post by c0dehunter » Tue Oct 30, 2012 7:15 pm

Hello,
I have one R61i and a T400, which are in two different rooms. I move my T400 around often, so if I move it to my other room (where my R61i is located), can I use my R61i's adapter (60W 20V) to charge my T400?

T400's own adapter is rated at 90W and 20V.

Will it cause issue for my T400 (less Wattage, 90W-60W=30W)?

Thanks!

Yes you can use them with no problem at all, in fact using the 90W is always better because it charges my battery faster and most of all when i am doing multiple things that require more power the 90W is always better. the weird thing is that i do too have a R61i and T400 haha and yeah i only use the 90w power adapter... now make sure that you disconnect the power adapter when your battery is at 100% even of it is a low wattage adapter and the reason why is because if dont let the battery charge and discharge the life cycles in it will die out... self experience with my R61i

The real question here is whether your T400 has Intel integrated graphics, or the switchable ones?

If it's the latter, 90W adapter is highly recommended, since the 65W unit might overheat when discrete graphics kick in full-force.

I got the intel one, runs super quite, no overheating at all even when running CS3 and Corel Studio 4
