Optimize Thinkpad T430/T510 for Fedora Linux

#1 Post by ircfas133 » Wed Nov 07, 2012 3:09 am

Hi, Gents:

I just installed Fedora 17 on my T430s. It work very well with my laptop. But it lacks PowerManager and native drive for video cards, etc. Is there a central place to download all those Lenovo packages/softwares/drivers so that Fedora can work seamlessly with ThinkPad? For example, right now there is no way to use gesture on the TrackPad and there is no way to use the middle bottom for Trackpoint. Thanks!

Lenovo does not ship their "value add" software for anything other than Windows. No great loss.

You might want to ask in the Fedora forums for power-saving tips, but the bottom line is: everything you need is already built in, you just need to activate it. See your distro's support forums for information on that.

Regarding the TrackPoint, check ThinkWiki. There are several ways of doing it, and which is best will depend on your usage and your distro.
