Why my SAMSUNG 830 Series SSD seem slow?
Hello all,
For some reason, my new Samsung 128GB 830 Series seem slower compared to a traditional hard drive. This is what makes me believe so:
The SSD is installed on my Lenovo ThinkPad T400 (Windows 7 x64, 8GB DDR3, Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 (2.80GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 6MB Cache)
For comparison's sake, I list my Dell desktop computer specs as well:
Dell Inspiron 530 model, with Windows XP Pro, 2GB DDR2 RAM, Intel Celeron, and a 5200RPM hdd.
About half an hour ago (10:36 to be exact), I started the Colantrao Amiga Forever setup on both systems, and strangely the T400 seems stalled (it is 10:55 as of this writing). It took only 2 minutes for this program to be installed on my old DELL desktop however.
What seem to be taking so long on this drive?
I know my T400 does not support the new SATA III transfer rates, but nor does my old Dell XP Pro, and it took only 2 minutes for it to install the software. There is something not right here.
It is 10:58 and the setup is still not finished.

No way a spinner is faster than a SSD. Could be a lot of reasons besides the HDD or SSD. Benchmark the SSD in your T400 vs the HDD in your Dell using ATTO. If the SSD is slower than the HDD then something is wrong with the install.

Re: Why my SAMSUNG 830 Series SSD seem slow?
I forgot to mention that I partitioned this SSD drive into C: and D: (for games).
Another thing that I forgot to mention is that previously, I had a 60GB OCZ (for about a week) and when I bought the Samsung, I was lazy to install Windows again, so I cloned it onto this Samsung, and returned the OCZ.
Could any of these be factor?
I also installed Samsung Magician software, and attempted another install, but still no go.

OK, update:
I choose to let the setup install into the default path (instead of my the D partition) and it went less than 1 minute! Why didn't it install on my D partition then?

Probably a bug in the installer.c0dehunter wrote:Why didn't it install on my D partition then?

Just wondering, why do you want to keep games on a separate partition of your SSD?
Your speeds are dead on with where they are supposed to be, despite the cloning.
