TP with different HDDs

Hi. I have a T400 (Type 2767-WT1) that will probably never be revived due to some hardware/power issue. However, i would like to continue using the harddrive as-is by getting the same machine.
I know there are different machine "Types" for T400. If I get any used T400 off fleabay, will my existing T400's harddrive work in the fleabay's T400 without needing to install new drivers OR should I specifically look for a T400 with Type 2767? The goal is to avoid having to install new drivers onto my existing harddrive because I have all the settings personalized just right.
Any help would be appricated!

Your T400, as it left the factory:
P8600(2.4GHz), 4GB RAM, 160GB 5400rpm HD, 14.1in 1440x900 LCD, 256MB ATI Radeon HD3470, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11agn wireless, WWAN upgradeable, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, Camera, 6c Li-Ion, WinVista Business 32
The only driver you'd have to download would be the graphics one if you bought the machine with Intel graphics. Everything else should be pretty much the same.

Thanks! Wasn't sure if my harddrive would be interchangable with any T400 since it seems there might be a few different T400 versions due to different business needs.

Just make sure it's T400 and not T400s and you're golden. "S" models use a 1.8" drive.

As before it's a pretty straightforward swap. Used to swap drives between a T400, T500, and an X200 without much in the way of issues. If you get a T400 with an X4500 it will boot and run your original drive without a hitch, but you might want to uninstall the existing display drivers via Safe Mode and install the Intel ones fresh. Same story if you have to branch out and get an X200 or an Intel-only T500.
The T400 and T500 with switchable graphics will work right out of the box without any dancing around with the drivers.

Thank you all for your help.
I'm currently looking at a T400 (Type 2767-H9U) with a 128SSD. I found conflicting info on the size 1.8' vs 2.5" of the SSD. Does anyone know where I can get actual info on the ssd size?
Thanks!

The T400 only natively accepts 2.5" drives. If the SSD is a 1.8" drive, it will be seated in an adapter that will allow it to be placed in the T400's hard drive bay.

If you are running Vista or Win 7 it should be straightforward.
If you are running Win XP you may have a more
exciting time (as the Hardware Abstraction Layer is less developed than in later versions of Windows).
