error message when installing fresh copy of windows xp

#1 Post by gerrychevelle396ss » Fri Jan 25, 2013 3:57 pm

I tried to install a fresh copy of windows xp on my T410. I tried 2 different CD's and each time I recieved the same error message:

Fatal error- one of hte components that Windows needs to continue setup could not be installed. Data error (cyclic redundancy check). If you are installing from a CD, there might be a problem with the disc: try cleaning the disc or using another disc.

I find it hard to believe that both discs happen to have the same problem. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks, Gerry.

Were they original CD's or copies?

Try the CD's in another computer.

Try changing the SATA mode in the BIOS.
