Iam not in front of this setup but a family member has T410 type 2518-AHU and trying to connect it to his 32" LCD TV that does not have VGA but does have HDMI.

So resorting to this VGA to components cable

http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/Ef ... 10053646:s

Cant get a signal sent to the TV using the above cable.

However on a different TV using direct VGA to VGA input, it works fine. From T410 to different LCD with VGA port.

Also the cable is working fine from cable box to tv without using the VGA plug

Would anyone know how I can use this configuration from VGA to RCA type wires to the LCD. Its what they have readily available and would like to use it.

Thanks in advance.

These VGA to component cables generally don't work.

The only way they would work is if the computer knows how to output component video signal over VGA, or the TV knows how to receive a VGA (RGB) signal over component. And such devices are quite rare.

Thanks for the info, so the best solution is Displayport to HDMI, sounds about right?
