Thinkpad T410 to DVI-D

I have a Thinkpad T410 and a Dell 30" monitor (model 3007WFPt). The laptop has a VGA output and the monitor has a DVI-D input. Anyone know how to get the two to work together?

I'm hoping to do it on the cheap side, but any suggestions are appreciated. It would be a bonus if I could have additional screens, either by continuing to use my laptop screen, and/or adding an additional VGA output monitor.

Thanks!
Philip

Welcome to the forum. :)

To connect the laptop to the monitor - get a docking station (Advanced Mini-Dock 3 or better), or a DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI-D adapter.

Thanks very much for your response!

Would you expect something like this to work? http://www.cablewholesale.com/specs/dis ... -61103.htm

I believe so, unless their specification is dishonest. :)

As a follow-up, in case anyone is referencing this thread:

I got this adapter, similar to the one I linked to above: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0045JTAC6 but it is not very useful, since it only supports 1280 x 800 resolution. The max resolution of my monitor (mentioned in previous post) is 2560 x 1600. Some other adapters in the same price range will allow up to 1920 x 1200 resolution, but to take full advantage of this monitor, I'll need to spend around $100 for an adapter supporting WQXGA resolution, which is 2560 x 1600. I believe this one will work, though I haven't tried it yet: http://www.adorama.com/ACB087B003J.html
