T500 - disable pcdrui.exe and pcdrrealtime.p5x from autorun?

#1 Post by mouserU » Sat Mar 16, 2013 9:10 pm

I have a T500 2082, with XP Pro 32bit. (5 years old and still running pretty well!)

What I am wanting to change is the auto-running of:
pcdrui.exe
pcdrrealtime.p5x

The main issue is that they auto-run unpredictably, and make the laptop extremely slow. I need the laptop to be in peak performance during the hours of 7am-5pm, and need them to never run between these hours.

So the goal:
To make changes so that neither of them will auto-run between 7am-5pm.
Either by changing the settings, or disabling the auto-running.

Issue:
The schedule setting do not appear to work. (unless there are settings elsewhere that I am not aware of).

Yesterday around noon, pcdrui.exe starting it's auto-scan. I stopped the process.
Today at 4pm, pcdrui.exe and pcdrrealtime.p5x started up and started scanning.

In the ThinkVantage Toolbox, settings, the Enable Quick Hardware Check, was enabled. It was set to Quarterly, on the 1st day/date, at 9am.
Those settings were not followed - Yesterday was not the 1st day of the month, and it started running at hours after 9am.

I would like for the laptop to be checked periodically... But only if I can be sure it will happen at the specified dates/times. Otherwise I can easily-enough start a scan manually.

If I disable the 'enable quick hardware check', would that be adequate to prevent both pcdrui.exe and pcdrrealtime.p5x from auto-running ?

Thank you for any ideas :D
