T400 fan error replacement FRU?

My wife's T400 shows fan error, tried cleaning fan which helped for two days. Now it seems permanent. I have some modest experience with changing the CPU in other units and am willing to try replacing the defective fan. Are there FRU's which should be used or avoided?
