T500 - WAN Module (UMTS) suddenly "unauthorized wan"

#1 Post by bugmn » Fri Apr 19, 2013 1:09 am

Hallo everybody,

yesterday I noticed, that my WAN device is rejected by the BIOS. Sometimes booting the system freezes with a beep, sometimes windows can still boot up - but not use the WAN. Error 1804

I used the WAN device with the same SIM card for month. what is the problem here and how can I solve it?

Thanks!

Have you owned it since new or did you buy it used? If new, then you probably have a hardware malfunction.

If used, then answer these questions:
Is it indeed an unauthorized WAN card? Does it have an FRU number on the sticker?
Was the black electrical tape applied on one of the pins? Perhaps the tape has moved and is being read?
Did you upgrade your BIOS? Perhaps the previous user had a hacked BIOS that it worked with?
