just bought refurbished T400 from Lenovo
Posted: Wed May 01, 2013 12:16 am
the product number T2768P1U
It's basically a refurbished 2768-P1U with...
4gb ram (2x2gb)
9 cell battery (mine came with 520 cycles!!!!!!)
windows 7 64bit home premium for refurbished laptops
lenovo gives u 7 days to evaluate with a money back guarantee
condition of the laptop was good. i would give it a B+ on appearance
- normal edge wear on the lcd cover
- keyboard is shinny
- no dead/stuck pixels but there is a small scratch on the LCD only noticeable when power is off
- battery is noticably worn but still holds a charge
what i've done
- upgraded ram to 6gb (4+2gb)
- upgraded to crucial m4 128gb ssd
- applied as5 while I had access to the fans
- re-seated the speaker cables (now i have sound!!!)
- corrected the palmrest
initial impression...
- Keyboard is horrible (compared to my Z61m) flex is definately there. To make things worse, the palmrest was not installed properly so there was even more flex. I'm typing on it right now and it's still worse than my z61m but much better than before.
- there was no sound from the speakers but sound from the headphone jack. => re seating the speaker cables did the trick
- I attemped to burn in the cpu using prime 95 64 bit. the cpu temp jumped to 100celcius after 5 minutes!!!!
when I removed the fan, I noticed that 2 of the screws holding down the heatsink was not torqued down properly.
after arctic silver 5, i'm running prime 95, watching a movie and typing this and my cpu tem is at a steady 67-70. (tp fancontrol is at 1800rpm)
- screen is brighter than my Z61m
- 4gb ram is not enough
overall I am pleased with the purchase.
It was a little more than what ebay has to offer but you have the assurance of the warranty...
