Weird battery

#1 Post by vkostic » Wed May 01, 2013 5:29 pm

I have a T410 and was looking for a replacement for my 6-cell battery. The FRU is 42T4791. 10.8V, 5.2Ah, 57Wh.

I found a cheap one online and when I got it... Well, it looks the same as my old battery, same size, same shape, same connector as far as I can tell. But on the battery it says, "Replaces 42T4763 and 42T4763". It further says 14.4V, 2200mAh, 32Wh.

So, obviously I got a low capacity battery. I guess I got what I paid for. :(

But it's the difference in voltage that worries me. Is that battery compatible with my T410?

Thanks!

If it's truly 14.4 V then it's probably OK. But no one can really answer your question. Non-genuine batteries are always risky. I've had some that works great, some that works but Power Manager would complain that it's not genuine, one that sometimes work and sometimes doesn't, and one that did not work at all.
