r400 vs t400

#1 Post by dux5 » Thu Jun 20, 2013 8:43 pm

what the diffidence between the R400 and t400?

I found a R400 for $150, Should i hold out and wait for a t400? I seen them for around $150 too

i plan to upgrade the units, max out ram and maybe cpu, SSD, etc

what will i be missing out on going with the r400? can a LED screen be swapped in from a t400?

motherboards are the same?

R400 come with an expresscard slot?

I also plan to carry this on a bicycle everywhere, so is there much of a weight difference?

Not all T400s had LED screens - in fact, the vast majority didn't.

Without knowing something more about that R400 in the respect of specs/configuration, I don't think that anyone can tell you whether it's a good deal or not.

Based on 7439-V3U: P8400(2.26GHz), 3GB RAM, 160GB 5400rpm HD, 14.1in 1280x800 LCD, Intel X4500HD, CDRW/DVD, Intel 802.11agn wireless, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader, Camera, 6c Li-Ion, WinXP Pro

A fairly basic unit, apart from the fact that it sports a webcam. The price is likely what the market would bear, not a bargain and not a rip-off.

Not much difference in weight between the two from what I recall, you're not likely to notice it one way or another.

I don't believe so, but I might be mistaken.

Hi dux5. I have a T400 and it is manageable in weight for the occasional times I take it to campus with me. I did find a thread here that pertains to your question. Hope it helps in your decision :)

and here is some information on the rollcage that I mentioned earlier.
