Hello all,
I got my wife a T500 and I put a fresh install of Win 7 on it since the HD was wiped clean. Everything is up and running fine, but I want to put the Lenovo tools on it. I need to shut off the touchpad but leave the pointer and I can't do that with through windows. I believe what I need is the ThinkVantage tools, but Lenovo is sunsetting that and I can't download it. I tried putting in the touchpad drivers off the Lenovo site, but there was no change. Thanks!

You can deactivate the Touchpad in the BIOS.

Press F1 when the Thinkpad logo appears. Then choose "Config", then "Keyboard/Mouse" and finally set the Touchpad to "Disabled". Press F10 to save and exit.

Do you have these installed?

Lenovo Power Management Driver for Windows 7 (64-bit/32-bit)

Lenovo Power Manager Program for Windows 7 (64-bit/32-bit)

Hotkeys Features Integration for Windows 7 (64-bit/32-bit)

Synaptics Ultra Nav Driver for Windows 7 (64-bit/32-bit)

UltraNav Utility for Windows 7 (64-bit/32-bit)

What I've noticed is that it seems there are dependencies for certain programs. For example the 'UltraNav Utility' may not work without installing the 'Synaptics Ultra Nav Driver' first. I am fairly certain you will need the combination of 'Lenovo Power Management Driver,' 'Lenovo Power Manager,' and 'Hotkeys Integration,' followed by the installation of the 'Synpatics Ultra Nav Driver' and finally the 'UltraNav Utility' installed in order for the Fn+ F8 menu to include settings for shutting off the touchpad while in Windows.

Don't forget you may need to restart your T500 for the settings to take effect!

On my T500 the Ultra Nav Driver that is installed is simply called 'Thinkpad UltraNav Driver.' I forget if I got this from the Lenovo Support website or if Windows updates found it for me. It's fine with me as everything on my T500 works well enough. It's been awhile since I've installed any updates (from the Lenovo Support website) for my T500. I really should however my classes are already consuming any free time I get!

All the links I put up (for inquiring minds  ) are courtesy of

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/researc ... D=HT035871

That link will take you to 'Drivers and software - ThinkPad T500, W500' which is on the Lenovo Support website. Don't go 'all out' and download every program on that page okay? :P

Good luck :)
