Thinkpad T410: Can't use trackpad while using keyboard

After 2 months I'm quite happy with my T410 over my Latitude E6400 (that died), although I do have one major annoyance: I can't use the trackpad while pressing a keyboard key. This is something that I used all the time for 3D modeling and the occasional game, however not being able to do this means I have to carry a mouse with me.

I can't find any settings for this in BIOS or Ultranav software, and it doesn't happen when using an external mouse. Someone else I know that recently got a T410 also complains of the same issue. I'm aware that it's to prevent accidental touch input when typing however I'm used to having tap-to-click disabled when typing, not the entire trackpad.

Is there some setting somewhere that I'm missing or am I stuck with this annoying feature?

For these types of instances, I use the track point instead of the touchpad. The track point will continue to work while key on the keyboard is pressed. If you prefer touchpad over track point, I don't think there is a solution.
