T420 Screen Upgrade To IPS

I know this has been brought up many times before, but I'm curious what the technical reasons are that we can't seem to find IPS panels for the T420 series laptops. They're 16x9, which is a common form factor. Is it just the proprietary connections or is it fit issues? That is literally my only gripe with this laptop... I've used and sold dozens of these and I'm firmly convinced that if I could get a decent enough IPS panel in it to deal with the viewing angles and contrast issues, I'd have the perfect laptop...

I'll just say I agree 100% that the T420/T430 are terrific laptops with one glaring flaw, the screen. If they had a better screen, I'd probably own one. My X220i is also a great notebook, but I probably don't need that level of portability and an extra hard drive via the modular caddy would be a plus for me.
I don't believe there are any IPS screens being made that are compatible with the T430. If there were someone would have done it already. There's the FHD on the T440, but there's a number of reasons that won't work from the LVDS/eDP issue to the BIOS to needing an adapter for the cable.
