Hello, everyone.
Is it possible to install a Nvidia NVS 4200M discrete graphics on my T420 that I bought with only the integrated Intel HD 3000?
I've searched but I didn't find this information.

No. That's why you haven't found any info on this.

You could swap out the board with one that has the Nvidia GPU or sell the T420 and buy a unit with the Nvidia 4200M. If I had to take a guess, selling the T420 (Intel) and purchasing the T420 (Nvidia) might be the cost effective path. I don't know what a T420 (Nvidia) logic board sells for these days.
With regards to swapping out the board, I have taken apart two laptops in my lifetime. One had no screws left over and one had a few (both non-Thinkpads). The machine with the extra screws did not have a manual to take it apart, so having one helps.
It's a matter of getting a hold of the Hardware Manual and following the diagrams in it, grouping the screws together (say in an egg carton or plastic cups) and labeling them. You can do a google search using "hardware manual t420" if you want to get a copy of it. I have printed it out at work and got it spiral bounded (with a clear cover and a black back) at a local printing store.
Good luck,
John
