HELP!! T420

#1 Post by basil » Sun Dec 01, 2013 6:57 pm

I could really use some help. My daughter accidentally spilt water on my laptop but it was working fine. A few hours later I plugged it in and the orange charge light stated blinking 9 times and remained stationary

I tried a new battery and after a few minutes of charging, it just became green then remained orange. This happenes every time I plug in the charger.

Also I have a lot of work worth hundreds on it, is there a way to get all that memory instead of fixing the laptop? I could buy a new one but this has a lot of work on it

Thanks

If you're looking to get the data off the drive, you can buy an external enclosure and put the drive into it, then hook to any PC and get the data off that way.

Anytime you spill something on a notebook you should shut it down asap and let it dry out. Take it apart and clean it if needed. My guess would be there's a short somewhere. If you feel comfortable, you could buy a new motherboard and swap it yourself. That's probably less expensive than a new machine.

Hmm thanks a lot for the info, I'll look into it. And yeah my fault for not shutting it down.
