T420 Video Displayport

i have a T420 running RHEL6 x64 with a displayport and VGA port. I am trying to use a Samsung 32 LED as a projector for my laptop using the dsiplayport to HDMI connection (laptop to TV respectively). After connected, I press Fn F7 to activate the connection. However, I am not seeing a display and in the display preferences console even though the display flashes when I hit Fn F7. I have the TV setup right, it my laptop needs a special driver. I have never used the displayport on this laptop. I have always used the VGA. I have Nvidia Optimus video adapter for the laptop. I have read some that are trying a Bumblebee application, however, this is a company laptop and I don't want to "break" the video display drivers on the laptop. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting the displayport working on the T420 RHEL6 x64 laptop?

Welcome to the forum.
AFAIK RHEL64 only installs 64-bit libraries.
You may need a 32-bit driver to get the displayport going.
BTW, you posted in the wrong forum, you need to go here:
ThinkPad T400/410/420 and T500/510/520 Series
And check there, maybe someone else has/had the same problem.
And also check in the Linux forum!

I'm not having much luck with getting my displayport to interact with my Samsung TV. I tried the Bumblebee project to no avail (to many broken links to their repositories. Any other suggestions? TIA

I have my displayport running through an HDMI adapter cable at 1080p (integrated graphics.) You might want to
try another display to see if the problem is in the TV.
Also, do you know for a fact that the cable is good?
