T410 beeps 5 times after bios update

#1 Post by wonz » Sun Jan 19, 2014 8:45 am

Hello,

i updated the bios on my friends T410 for one from MDL forum with clear WL and after that his machine beeps 5 times before boot. We try to flash bios again with orginal one but installer said its the same version so no update needed.

Any sugestions where is the problem ... and what to do next ...

Load an older Lenovo BIOS version first, then go up to the same BIOS version from Lenovo as your MDL BIOS is.
Only after that do you update with the MDL BIOS over the Lenovo BIOS!
I have updated several T410 machines without problems with the Slic version from here:

Did it also beep after the standard Lenovo BIOS flash?
5 beeps and a blank screen would normally be a bad motherboard, but if yours still starts after twice beeping 5 times...
Go into the BIOS (press F1 at boot) and once in there, press F9 to load defaults, then F10 to save and reboot.
If still no luck, replacing the BIOS chip is about the only solution I can think of.

on Lenovo 1.44 and 1.45 works fine without beeps ... they show up only after flashing with 1.45 MDL

could it be somehow related to bios settings like Intel AT module or security chip ?

Yes, that's what the whitelist-removal is for!

Have you installed the proper drivers for it, as well as the Intel chip drivers for your T410?
I don't have any machines with a WWAN installed, and I also don't even use a cell-phone!
Afraid I can't help you any further here, other than suggesting to try another card instead of that Dell one.
Someone else???

some update on this case:

DW5550 dell branded (on F5521gw hardware) holds computer at bios screen for 1,5 min in T410 ... but works normal with older machines like T60 x200 ... probably lenovo leave in bios something more than just a WHITELIST

if 1,5 min lock is not a problem or you use standby mode you can find solutions how to modify and install dell drivers on lenovo machines

maybe this info will be usefull to someone

I have a similar problem with my T420. Updating with modified BIOS gives a machine that beeps 5 times, pause, then beeps 5 times. It works perfectly otherwise. If you disable security chip, the beeping will stop but you will lose ability to use fingerprint reader and some other related functions. If that is not important to you, then no worries.

The card should work without issues using the modified BIOS. I have a Lenovo WWAN card in my machine, but an Intel branded Wireless AC card.
