T410 2x4GB issue

Hi guys
Purchased a second hand t410 there about 2 weeks ago, since then I have reformatted and installed linux mint. Anyway I had the system when I got it came with 1x2GB and 1x1Gb stick inside. So I went ahead an purchased 2 sticks of kingston 4GB 1Rx8 PC3L 12800s(second hand). I had done a little research on what frequency the t410 could take and it was 1033 but shouldn't have a real issue with 1600 as it would just under-clock it(I could be wrong)
Now I have tried both sticks in the laptop and all I get is a constant resetting after choosing from normal, safe or memory test(which fails). When I use one of the sticks only can get to the desktop for it to crash within a minute or so. When I have both sticks in my laptop I can see them in listed in the BIOS.
From looking at the kingston RAM and googling, I think it is running at 1.35v (PC3L) While the old RAM in the laptop is PC3 which runs at 1.50v. Would this be whats causing the issue I am having? Is there anyway of solving the issue or do I just have incompatible RAM? From doing more googling I see RAM models with 1.35v listed as compatible with my model thinkpad.
Any advice would be welcome and I would be very grateful.
Cheers
John
