T410 sometimes does not detect OCZ SSD

#1 Post by oliversl » Wed Feb 12, 2014 5:11 pm

Hi,
we have a T410 with an OCZ SSD and sometimes the hard drive is not detected, a Ctrl+Alt+Del solve the issue.

I wonder if this is a common problem and if there is fix.

I already tried update the BIOS on the T410 and firmware on the OCZ.

Many thanks
Oliver

Need more info on the OCZ drive but it was a very common issue on some OCZ drives with Sandforce controllers. Do a web search on your particular model. I highly doubt it's the T410 that is the problem. OCZ's reputation never recovered over this and rightly went bankrupt because of it. At one time they were an industry big player in the SSD market.

Its a Vertex 4 128GB with firmware 1.5

Will do the search and report back. There is a new firmware 1.5.1 and also the problem not always happens. I can not reproduce it.

Google "SSD random BSOD", the infuriating was that it was random. Before this became known on internet forums I was going batty trying to diagnose my desktop for precisely the symptoms you describe. But a Vertex 4 uses in Indilinux controller and should not be suffering from this issue. Upgrade the firmware and see if that will help. You may want to consider updating or reflashing you BIOS too. Beyond that you may just be very unlucky.

Well, the Vertex 4 works like a charm, only occasionally I get that HDD Initializacion failed error. The solution is Ctrl+Alt+Del.

I put the CD-ROM on opt of the SDD in Boot order, so it gives a few ms more for the SSD to initialize, will report back in a few days.

Thanks
