How to fix Speakers on T430 ???

I got a good deal on a new Thinkpad T430 i7-3520M... and I re-installed Win 7 Pro 64bit and all went well with the laptop running fast and I've done all the Windows updates and some Lenovo updates (except for non-essential bloatware) so life is good, except for one small detail: the speakers won't work.

I installed the Reltek Audio driver thru Lenovo update as well as the Dolby software, but they still won't work. Before the fresh windows install they worked fine, so speakers should be good.

And, I can get sounds when I plug in my headphones so there is some audio to be had... just not coming out of the laptop's speakers.

I checked in the Windows device manager and it shows the right driver is installed... any idea where to go from here to diagnose this issue? :?:

I frequent audio problems, but it may not just pertain to the T430 only, just Windows.

Right click the speaker icon, click playback devices.
Sometimes the SPDIF Interface would be checked as default at times, click speakers or any other playback device that may be on there.
Hopefully one of them would be the working unit, disable the one that does not work so you may not run into the problem.
You can see disabled devices if you right click the empty space on that menu, so it wont erase it permanently.

Have you checked the Audio Volume buttons, top left on your keyboard?

Maybe the computer just forgot about them and it remembered once you pressed that.
