t420S and gobi 4000?

#1 Post by jmg2 » Thu Apr 03, 2014 11:31 am

Will This work?
I know the following:
1) it fits
2) The driver recognizes the card

But:
1) it can't connect (even though the card is active on my Verizon account)

Has Anyone had any luck using the gobi 4000 on a t420s? I know Lenovo's party line is that it is not supported. Setting that aside, has anyone managed to get it to work? I'm assuming the reason it's not supported has something to do with the antenna setup (integrated 4g wasn't even an option on the 420s), because it clearly fits and is recognized in the pci port.

Any thoughts? I'm currently using a pantech uml295, but cannot STAND having a dongle outside the laptop...

Hello Forum!,

I just bought the same wwan card, MC7700 Gobi4000 that is miniPCIEx.

I prettend to use it on a T420s Thinkpad laptop.

It happens that:

- The card fits ok in the slot.
- Both cables orange and blue connected.
- Windows recognizes de hardware.
- Lenovo drivers recognize the hardware.
- SIM Card is in the slot.
- SIM Card provider is compatible with the card (B4 AWS).

But Windows can't turn on the radio.

I've installed Lenovo HOTKEYs, Access Connections and Power Management Driver (Power Manager).

I hadn't problems with EM7345 in T440.

Could be a Windows issue? (It's updated).

Please, post if you have experiences with this card.
