Hi everyone,
I have a T420S currently with no Mobile Internet.
I saw a Ericsson F5521GW Wan Card on ebay and tempted to get it. There seems to be a slot near the RAM bay allow me to add that.
If i add that card, and insert a SIM, can i have mobile internet then?
the SIM slot is already behind the battery, not sure if it is actually a "dummy" or if it is working, awaiting WWAN Card.
Cheers
Nelson
Will adding WWAN Card allow me to add SIM and Mobile Inet?

Re: Will adding WWAN Card allow me to add SIM and Mobile Ine
AFAIK all of the T420s models are WWAN upgradable (this means that the SIM reader and antenna are installed)(hope I'm not wrong). So, yes, after installing the WWAN card, insert your SIM and you are ready to go. Just pay attention that a Lenovo branded Ericsson F5521gw is needed (FRU 60Y3279)(BIOS whitelist), not *any* Ericsson F5521gw card. To check if the WWAN antenna wires are there, just remove the memory cover and see if there are 3 wires for the wireless LAN card (6205 are using just two of them) and another two for the WWAN card.
You can use Windows 7 to manage the WWAN card, don't need to have Lenovo's Access Connections installed.
Just one more thing - there is a disconnect/reconnect issue, it seems that the selective suspend feature isn't correctly implemented by the driver of this card, anyway Puppy has found a solution, I'm posting it here:
--------
1. Run regedit.exe as an administrator
2. Locate 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contr?ol\Class\{36FC9E60-C465-11CF-8056-444553540000}' key
3. There will be several subkeys (on the left pane) named '0001', '0002' etc. You have to go through all of them and locate one that have value (on the right pane) name 'DriverDesc' and value 'F5521gw Mobile Broadband Device'. It should also contain value named 'EnableCR3840'
4. Locate value named 'EnableSelectiveSuspend', it is supposed to have actual value '1'
5. Change it to '0'
6. Close regedit
7. Restart the machine
