HI Everyone.

My Expresscard on T420s keeps popping out accidentially. Is there a way to stop it?

There is no mounting screw place for me to screw the card in.

Cheers
Nelson

What do you mean by accidentally? Like it falls out on it's own if the laptop is tilted on its side?

On mine when using the SD Card reader in the expresscard slot, if I go to eject the SD card, the force will actually eject the card reader instead. It is like the spring in the SD card ejector is a lot firmer than the spring in the expresscard ejector. It could be just bad design.

If your slot is indeed defective, the part number you are looking for to order is 04W1689.

The slots are definitely poorly designed, and what jayton4 described happens a lot to me. I use a USB3 adapter in mine, and most of the time pulling the USB stick out takes the whole expresscard with it.

But it generally does not fall out on its own.

Does your T420s have a Nvidia GPU? or is it the Intel only model. In the intel integrated only model, there is a mounting screw for the expresscard. I have taken some pictures to show you the position of the screw hole.

I have the same problem with my W510 and a firewire expresscard.

Not only is it very easy to pull the card out, but if you push it in, there is a kind of eject function.

So if you have a heavy cord plugged in to your expresscard, the weight of it can pull the card out of the slot.
And if you plug a connector in to the expresscard, then the card will be ejected from the slot, unless the connector goes in with little force.

It really is a very poor design indeed, but at least the slot is on the left side on the T420s.
