Hi guys, I have purchased another TP and I have a question about the RAM.

The T430 has 4 GB of PC3-12800 ram and an open slot on the underside. My T410i has a total of 4GB (2x2GB sticks) but they are PC3-8500.

I'll be using the T430 as my main computer from now on so I was wondering if I can just take a 2GB stick from the T410 and plug it in? I know there is a speed difference but would it be worth it to add that extra 2GB? I'll mostly be doing websurfing, watching lectures and powerpoints. These slow down the notebook a bit when I have multiple items open.

I am thinking of selling the T410i and I can either take out the 2GB stick or buy a 4GB stick of PC-12800.

Sell T410i in its current shape and just add 4GB to T430 once you have the funds available.

Will I notice a good difference on a laptop going from 4GB to 6GB or 8GB?

That really depends on what you do...for the most basic use, probably not.
