T410 cursor frozen after replacing palmrest

I recently purchased several T410 laptops. One of the T410s in question was functioning correctly, but had a very worn and heavily scratched palmrest. I purchased a used replacement palmrest on eBay and installed it this evening. Everything seems to works OK, but the cursor is completely frozen when trying to use the trackpoint button. The trackpad and left/right clickers are working properly. It is just the trackpoint that is not working. I thought that the track-point would be controlled by the keyboard electronics, so I tried swapping keyboards with another functional T410. However, the cursor remains frozen when trying to operated using the trackpoint.
Any ideas where the problem might be? Might the problem be in a palmrest installation? Or is this strictly a keyboard issue?
Thanks, FRANK
