Migrating Windows XP drive from T61 to T420: Anyone done it?

I've successfully moved my XP drive between Thinkpad models before. I'm curious if anyone has succeeded at doing this to a T420.

I know Lenovo provides T420 drivers for XP; the question is whether I will be able to avoid a complete OS rebuild - i.e. by booting into safe mode on the T420, and then uninstalling drivers and installing correct ones.
